Bansko has a proper events calendar — not just the ski season buzz, but genuine festivals that draw people from across Europe. The Jazz Festival alone is reason enough to plan a trip around it.

First week of August
Bansko Jazz Festival
One of the most respected jazz festivals in Eastern Europe, held every August in the open-air amphitheatre in the old town. International headliners, local acts, and a fantastic atmosphere — the whole town comes alive for it. Free entry to most performances.
Late August
Nomad Fest
A festival for digital nomads, remote workers, and entrepreneurs that has found a natural home in Bansko. Talks, workshops, networking, and a genuinely international crowd. If you work remotely, this is a great excuse to combine work and a mountain holiday.
24 December – 2 January
Christmas & New Year
Bansko at Christmas is genuinely magical. The old town is lit up, the mehanas are full, and the first snow of the ski season usually arrives right on cue. New Year's Eve in the main square is a proper celebration — fireworks, live music, and the whole town out together.
Mid-March
Bansko Film Festival
A mountain and adventure film festival that screens documentaries and short films about outdoor life, exploration, and the natural world. Held in the cinema and various venues around town during the final weeks of the ski season.
Early January
Kukeri Festival
One of Bulgaria's most ancient traditions — costumed performers wearing elaborate masks and bells parade through the streets to ward off evil spirits and welcome the new year. Loud, colourful, and completely unlike anything you'll see elsewhere. A real piece of Bulgarian culture.

Beyond the big festivals, Bansko has a steady rhythm of live music in the bars, folk evenings in the mehanas, and seasonal markets. In ski season there's almost always something happening on a Friday or Saturday night. We keep an eye on what's on and always let guests know.
